What is self-love and self-care?

Self-love and self-care are two important concepts that are often used together. Self-love is the practice of accepting and appreciating yourself for who you are, flaws and all. Self-care is the practice of taking care of your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Self-love and self-care are important because they can help you to live a happier and healthier life. When you love and care for yourself, you are more likely to make choices that are good for you, and have healthy boundaries. You are also more likely to be resilient in the face of challenges. This is something that you can practice year round no matter what the season is.

Why are self-love and self-care practices important for fall?

  • The fall season can be a time of transition and change. This can be stressful for some people, as they may be adjusting to new routines, new schedules, and new challenges. Self-love and self-care can help people to cope with stress and change in a healthy way.
  • The fall season can also be a time of darkness and cold weather. This can lead to feelings of sadness, isolation, and depression. Self-love and self-care can help people to stay positive and maintain their mental and emotional well-being.
  • The fall season is a great time to focus on gratitude and self-reflection. Self-love and self-care can help people to appreciate all that they have and to set goals for the future.

1. Take a nature walk

Studies have shown that spending time in nature can boost mood, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being. So take a walk in the park, hike in the woods, or simply sit in your backyard and enjoy the fresh air. Find local parks in your area you’ve never been to before. Notice the leaves changing colors, be fully present, and turn your phone on do not disturb. Walking has so many health benefits, find a walking plan that suits your lifestyle along with the fall weather.

2. Start a Gratitude Journal

Begin each day by jotting down three things you’re grateful for. I personally like writing 5 things in my gratitude journal. This simple practice can shift your focus to positivity and appreciation for what you have now. It allows us to be present, and romanticize the little things in our lives that we often take for granted. Not only that, gratitude can also help you rewire your brain for positivity. Up for a gratitude challenge? Take our 30-day gratitude & growth journal challenge.

3. Create a Fall Self-Care Playlist

Compile a playlist of your favorite soothing tunes. Music has the power to elevate your mood, and calm your soul. I actually love making a new playlist every month, because it just sets the vibes with your current hyper-fixation songs, and you can even sent an intention or goal for what your playlist can inspire for you this season. One of my current favorite songs is “Steal the Show” by Lauv.

4. Practice Mindful Meditation

Allocate time each day for mindful meditation. It helps reduce stress, increase self-awareness, and promote relaxation. One study found that just 12 minutes of meditation per day for eight weeks was enough to improve mood, reduce stress, and enhance cognitive function. Another study found that just 10 minutes of meditation per day for five days was enough to improve sleep quality and reduce anxiety. Find a quiet place, close your eyes, and focus on your breathes, let the introducing thoughts go when they come up.

5. Host a Fall Movie Marathon

Invite friends or family over for a cozy movie night. Make it even more fun and make it themed: like a Halloween, Disney, or Harry Potter movie marathon. We love a good theme, get the decorations out. Don’t forget the popcorn, healthy snacks, mocktails, and warm blankets!

6. Declutter Your Space

A tidy living space can contribute to a clearer mind. Dedicate some time to decluttering, and organizing your home. This is a good time to organize your fall wardrobe, and donate or re-sell some of your clothings and accessories you no longer need or love. I personally love Poshmark, it’s such a fun and easy way to resell fashion items. By decluttering your space, we make space for the things we want, and let go of the energies and things that no longer serve us.

7. Practice Yoga Outdoors

If the weather permits, practice yoga in a park or your backyard. There is nothing better than getting fresh air and natural surroundings to enhance the experience. This can elevate your practice and give yourself a bit of change of scenery. If yoga isn’t your jam try any outdoor workout that you like, we love a good body weight exercises, or try these 10 easy holiday workouts you can do anywhere.

8. Learn a New Fall Recipe

Expand your culinary skills by mastering a new fall-inspired dish. Share it with loved ones for added enjoyment. Our even test some recipes that you’ll cook for the upcoming holiday season with our 10 healthy holiday recipes that everyone will love.

9. Visit a Farmer’s Market

Explore local farmer’s markets to discover seasonal produce and artisanal goods. It’s a fun way to support your community, and try different fruits, and veggies for new recipes to try.

10. Host a Bonfire Gathering

Gather around a bonfire with friends, and family, and share stories. Roast some marshmallows and make some s’mores. It’s even easier to do now that there are portable bonfires that you can take with you anywhere. Cozy up with your flannels, and blankets.

11. Connect with Loved Ones

Make time for quality conversations with family and friends. If you can meet face to face at a cute cafe, or even have a FaceTime call. Quality time, and genuine connections are a crucial aspect of self-care, emotional and mental health.

12. Volunteer in Your Community

Give back to your community by volunteering, or joining a walk for a good cause. Acts of kindness can boost your sense of self-worth, while giving back. But most importantly it reminds us of how blessed we are and how much we have. You can easily find volunteer opportunities on volunteer match, or search up the local non-profits in your area.

13. Enjoy a Digital Detox

Take a break from screens and social media to reconnect with yourself and the world around you. A digital detox is where you just take a break from your apps and have intentional time away from your digital devices. Whether its for a week, or a couple of hours a day. It can bring clarity of mind and it can encourage you to try new things, and it’s a nice break for your eyes too.

14. Write Love Letters to Yourself

Compose heartfelt letters to yourself, highlighting your achievements and positive qualities. When was the last time you took time to celebrate and give yourself a pat on the back for just being you. Often times we can become our own worst critics, and true self care is self acceptance and self love for yourself as you are. Find the things you love about yourself and shower your self with words of affirmations.

15. Practice Deep Breathing

Incorporate deep breathing exercises into your daily routine. It’s a quick way to reduce stress and enhance your well-being. Take a moment for yourself and take 3-5 deep belly breathes. It can instantly clear your mind, and frustrations. Do this as often you need but it can be especially helpful in the morning and right before bed.

16. Host a Cozy Potluck Dinner

Invite friends over for a potluck dinner featuring fall-inspired dishes. Share laughter and good food. We love a good potluck, it can be fun. You can also try different themes, like a popular tiktok trend: is for everyone to bring a dish starting with the first letter of their first name. It can also be a great time for a friendsgiving potluck.

17. Visit an Apple Orchard

Pick apples and enjoy the fresh, crisp fruit or use them in delicious recipes. Dress warm & cozy, Snap some fall pics for the gram. This is a classic way to enjoy the fall season, and get out of the house!

18. Organize a Clothing Swap

Host a clothing swap with friends to refresh your wardrobe sustainably. Basically, everyone can bring their clothes in good condition, that they no longer want, make sure everyone washes and cleans everything throughly before bringing it. Set how many items each person can bring, and have a token system so people don’t take more than they brought. Happy swapping!

19. Collect and Press Leaves

Gather colorful leaves and press them to create DIY art or decorations. I don’t know about you but we love a good crisp leaf, and the colorful fall leaves. You can easily make some laminated book marks, or press them for some fall decor and aesthetics.

20. Write Affirmations

Compose positive affirmations that resonate with you and repeat them daily to boost your self-esteem. This is another classic self-care practice, take the time to find or create relevant affirmations that can help in whatever area you’re currently focused on. What we say to ourselves matters, even if no one else can hear it. You can choose to repeat them, write them down, or have little notes around your house.

21. Pamper Your Skin

Treat yourself to a luxurious fall-themed skincare routine or spa day. Hydrate your skin to combat dryness. Try to keep it simple, and use hydrating products like paper face masks, and natural oils and serums. Take a bath, light some candles, and give yourself some time to do some skincare in peace.

22. Create a Vision Board

Dream big and visualize your goals by crafting a vision board for the rest of the year. It helps you refocus on what’s important to you and what your priorities are. It is super helpful to actually make a new vision board for each month. This can be a really fun activity, turn some music up, find your inspo in pinterest. If you want to make it more fun get a girls night together to do it with friends.

23. Plan a Weekend Getaway

Escape to a cozy cabin or inn for a rejuvenating fall weekend getaway. There’s nothing better than taking some time away, whether it’s a couple or solo trip, take time to be present and truly relax. If getting away isn’t an option, make it a staycation at a local hotel, or area that you don’t go to often.

24. Host a DIY Craft Night

Gather friends and family for a craft night where you can create fall-themed decorations or gifts. We love some pumpkin carving, or paint nights. Why not a pizza night, or baking night? There’s no limits to what you can do. Have fun, and happy crafting!

25. Stargazing Night

Set up a cozy stargazing spot and gaze at the night sky. Find a place that’s away from city lights. Use a stargazing book, or app to help you find the stars, and constellations. Dress warmly, and bring cozy warm beverages and a blanket to lay on. Stargazing is a fun and rewarding hobby for people of all ages. It’s a great way to learn about the universe and appreciate the beauty of the night sky.

We hope these ideas can help you find ways to take care of yourself, and enjoy the fall season. Fall is a time for transformation, growth, and self-discovery. Embrace it with open arms and a loving heart. Remember, that self-love and self-care are ongoing practices (Definitely something year round). By incorporating these 25 ideas into your fall wellness bucket list, you’ll not only enjoy the season but also nurture your well-being.

Idc what anyone says… fu hang soy milk is one of t Idc what anyone says… fu hang soy milk is one of the best. They’ve been around since 1958! Yes there’s lots of tourists and the line wraps around the block sometimes. But the lines don’t usually last more than 45 minutes. I don’t like long lines or crowds so I just go earlier. (If you’re jet lagged, just come here and eat at 5:30am).

Everything is made fresh and in house. And you can watch them bake the shaobing in their clay ovens. Many breakfast spots these days buy frozen doughs instead of making it from scratch. It makes a huge difference, in flavor and quality.

I don’t eat this often at all so it’s such a treat. My must eats are the egg pancake (Dan bing); thin Shao bing (thin flatbread) with you tiao (fried dough stick) and ofc their hot sweet soy milk (dou jiang)! And yes I finish all of it myself haha. Their soy milk is so silky smooth. Everything is so good!

- Tickets are released on the 1st of every month at 10am for that month and the following month.

- They open Thurs-Sun from 10am -5pm. Last admission of the day is at 4:15pm.

I did have a connecting flight from San Francisco to dc, but I had to run to my gate and had 0 time to record anything. But we made it!

I’m loyal to y’all @united but @evaairways is starting a direct flight from TPE to IAD in June… 👀can we get a direct route too? And maybe bring back the mayo & mustard packets for the subs?
