Book: One Golden Summer

I read 10 books this month, and 3 of them are from Carley Fortune. I coincidently read Every Summer After, right before the tv show came out. I enjoyed it, her books are the perfect summer vacation books. My favorite book of the month would One Golden Summer though! It’s a fun, nostalgic makes you feel like a kid again type of summer read. I’ve never had lake summers, so it was fun to step into that world. I also think its so relatable that two characters are expected to do things alone all the time finally ask for help, and then receiving the support they didn’t think they deserved. It’s fun, but the characters also grow, and become better for their experiences with each other.

Skincare: Jung Saem Mool Essential Mool Micro Fitting Mist

I’ve actually been loving this spray for a while!! But I’m even more obsessed using this during the summer time, it really makes your skin glow. It is essentially a primer spray, I use it after I apply my makeup. It lasts all day, but you can also reapply through the day. It also has thermal water that keeps your skin hydrated, and dewy. I’m obsessed with thermal water sprays already so the fact that it’s combined within this one product makes it even better for me. Jung Saem Mool is one of the top celebrity Korean makeup artists who coined “glass skin”. I got the small size to try, and I just bought the larger size because I’m already running out!

Movie: Voicemails for Isabelle

We are so back with the rom-com’s. My favorite movie this month was Voicemails for Isabelle. It was funny, It was sad, It got me crying and then laughing. It’s a beautiful movie about grief, love and finding yourself. All cliche elements necessary for a good rom com. As the youngest sister, it really touched me how they also really poured into the love story between, sisters and siblings, which often are overshadowed by romantic love. Great references to movies, pop culture, that was relatable. Zoey was hilarious, and Nick was swoony. Perfection!

Honorable mention: The Sheep Detectives. I didn’t think a kid’s movie about sheep would make me cry, but it was both funny, deep and spoke about grief, and loss. I watched it for Hugh Jackman, and it did not disappoint. I went in completely blind, didn’t know the plot or anything, and was happily surprised. Rating: 4/5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Tv Series: Every Year After

I was so happy I actually finished reading Every Summer After, which is the book they are adapting, right before this came out. They changed the name to Every Year After, so they can have multiple seasons. It is definitely a slow show, some may say it’s a bit boring, especially after watching and loving Off Campus. But it makes sense because it’s Lake life, its not supposed to be fast paced.

They made a lot of changes from the book to the tv show which is necessary if they expect this show to continue. I felt there was some chemistry missing between the main leads, and some acting was off. I also felt some of the new scenes to add drama were unnecessary. I loved the new stories of Jordie and Chantal (Played by Joseph Chiu, and Aurora Perrineau) , I’m rooting for them so bad. It’s finally renewed for Season 2, and I can’t wait to see Charlie’s story since I loved One Golden Summer.

Wellness: Red Light Therapy Panel

I’ll be honest: I haven’t been the most consistent with my weekly red light panel sessions. So I’ve started doing them every evening again for 20 minutes each time. I shared my experience and the benefits of red light many times here on the blog. It feels really good, as a signal for unwinding from my day, while also multitasking as skincare, and for cellular health. It relaxes me and helps me feel more restful when I wake up.

These are my favorite night market staple since childhood. They’re crispy, chewy and airy. And so addictive. This is a classic taiwanese street food you must try!

They also have a variety of topics you can choose from including plum powder. I like mine plain.

Taipei has so many different types of food and restuarants! If you don’t know there are plenty of vegetarian options and even halal ones.

This one was an entirely vegetarian restuarant. I also highly recommend their Buddha bowls. It’s sister stores with popular bagel: Miopane

The best part is if you only have 2 people, you can get half a duck instead of the whole thing! Which most places do not offer.

It’s part of the wowprime group, and the quality of ingredients is always very good. I’ve tried many of their restaurants and they’re all great!

My must orders:
- Peking duck
- Duck lettuce wrap
- golden tofu pot

I shared more of my experience on my blog, and also how to make reservations. 💕

They also have cheesecakes and ice cream, and I’ll def have to go back and try them!

Everything you need to know before visiting the St Everything you need to know before visiting the Starbucks Reserve™ Dream Plaza in Taipei, Taiwan. It’s the largest flagship store in the entire Asia-Pacific region, located inside Dream Plaza in the Xinyi district, right next to the 24-hour bookstore. It’s a beautiful space with artwork that’s colorful and bright, and the rooftop has some of the best views of Taipei 101. 🏙️

They’ve recently made some changes to how you reserve seats and updated the purchase minimums (as of April 2026). I wanted to share a quick guide on how to make the best of your visit so you don’t have to figure it out on your own—like which entrance to use if you’re arriving in the morning!

Some special highlights of this location: it’s one of the few with an actual Teavana bar, a bar for coffee-infused cocktails, and a Siren Lounge. I personally love the Teavana bar—that’s where I usually get my favorite tea latte drinks. All of their food and pastries, whether savory or sweet, are quite good. 🥐☕️
