New Year, New Hobby? Hobby Ideas for 2024

The New Year is a time for fresh starts and new beginnings. It’s a time to reflect on the past year and set goals for the year ahead. And what better way to start the year than by taking up a new hobby? Life can sometimes get away from us, and we end up doing nothing merely because we think it takes too much time and money. Time will pass anyway, and not all hobbies need to consume a lot of your time and energy. Learning to relax and unwind with a hobby, is a necessary part of healthy rest.

How to Find a Hobby

If you’re not sure what hobby to take up, there are a few things you can do to find one that’s right for you.

  • Think about your interests. What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Are you creative? Active? Social? Once you have a general idea of what you’re interested in, you can start to narrow down your options.
  • Do some research. Once you have a few hobbies in mind, do some research to learn more about them. This will help you decide whether or not they’re a good fit for you.

Things to Remember when Starting a Hobby:

  • Set realistic goals. Don’t try to do too much too soon. Start with small, achievable goals and gradually increase them over time. Be okay with not being good or perfect right away.
  • Find a support system. Having someone to share your hobby with can make it more enjoyable and help you stay motivated. Search for local groups, and classes at the community college. There are so many ways to use new hobbies to connect with others.
  • Be patient. Learning a new hobby takes time and effort. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results immediately. Just keep practicing and you’ll eventually get the hang of it.

Most importantly, have fun! Hobbies are a great way to relax and de-stress. So enjoy the process and don’t take it too seriously.

The Shilin Cixian Temple is a historical site loca The Shilin Cixian Temple is a historical site located within Taipei’s famous Shilin Night Market!

Most people come to Shilin for the street food, but the food is only here because of this temple. Cixian Temple is the literal heart of the market. It’s been here since the 1800s and the stalls actually grew around it over time.

Look closely at the front: The left and right sides of the exterior were built by two different teams of master carvers competing to see who was better. That’s why the carvings on each side don’t perfectly match!

If you can’t tell art history was one of my favorite classes. 🤓
