Why Go Alcohol-Free for the Holidays?

There’s something special about raising a glass during the holidays, but for many, cutting out alcohol is a choice that keeps them feeling their best. Whether you’re going alcohol-free for health reasons, being the designated driver, or just not in the mood for alcohol, there are plenty of ways to enjoy a delicious drink without feeling left out. It’s okay to want to opt out of drinking, or even just cutting back. You can still have so much fun while sober, and you won’t have to deal with the nasty hangovers either. Non-alcoholic mocktails are becoming more and more popular, and have all the flavor and flair of traditional cocktails with no alcohol. It’s the perfect way to socialize, and enjoy the holiday season guilt free.

Setting Up Your Holiday Mocktail Bar

Shop the Moodboard Here

Now that you picked out your non-alcoholic drinks. Let’s make your holiday party unforgettable by setting up a mocktail bar. Use our holiday drink moodboard’s for inspiration. You can either base it around the drink or the overall vibe you want to exude. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Fresh mixers: Tonic water, soda water, flavored sparkling water, fresh fruit juices (like cranberry, pomegranate, or apple cider), and non-alcoholic ginger beer.
  • Garnishes: Peppermint candy canes, dried citrus slices (lemon, lime, orange), fresh herbs (mint, rosemary), slices of cucumber, edible flowers, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and berries (cranberries, raspberries).
  • Fun glassware: Glassware can easily elevate and dictate the overall mood of your bar. Champagne flutes, cocktail glasses, mason jars, or even festive mugs. There are truly so many options. I’m a big fan of colored wine glasses, that can add some fun winter/fall colors, and vintage looking glassware with gold edges.
  • Ice cubes with flair: Freeze cranberries, pomegranate seeds, or mint leaves inside your ice cubes for a festive look, or use crushed ice for a holiday vibe. Elevate the vibes with different shapes of ice as well like round globes, or seasonal shapes like a snowflake. You could even create an ice bucket mold with frozen flowers in them. These fit perfectly in a simple glass ice bucket, or you can use an ice bucket that is dark green and gold. So fitting for the holidays.

Additional Decor Ideas for Your Holiday Mocktail Bar:

  • Bar carts: We love a good bar cart, It can be used for more than must holiday parties, it can be used year round, and as storage space for your little bar. You can go for a more elegant look with a gold bar cart, or more cozy with a wooden bar cart. This is a great way for everyone to DIY their own drinks to their own liking. It’s perfect for hosting in small spaces.
  • Drink markers or tags: The worse thing is not being able to find your drink at a party. You can use festive tags that wrap around the stems of glasses or clip onto the rim. You could also even use wine glass markers to write on glassware. You could choose designs like snowflakes, candy canes, or even mini wreaths to match the holiday theme, there are so many different holiday drink markers out there. For a more elegant and simplistic vibe which is more my style, you could use some velvet ribbon, or twine and little tags.
  • Drink Menu: Create small, decorative drink menus that name each non-alcoholic beverage or mocktail. For example, a sign could read “Peppermint Spritz” or “Ginger Mocktail,” giving the drinks a special holiday feel. There are various options to choose from including acrylic, double sided frames, or chalk board options depending on the vibe you’re going for. Another idea is you can create a menu on canva that lists the different mocktail combinations to give guests an idea of what to make and you can slide it into a nice frame.
  • Festive straws or stirrers: Use colorful, striped paper straws or holiday-themed stirrers (like candy cane or snowflake designs) to keep the drinks festive and functional. These are totally optional because we can always opt out of using straws for the betterment of the environment.
  • Mini lights or garlands: This is the fun part decorating the mocktail bar or table. Pick a theme and based around that you can decorate with string lights, pine garlands, or faux snow for a cozy holiday aesthetic. You can also decorate with pieces of faux fur, velvet ribbons, taper candle holders, and modern Christmas decor.
  • Holiday trays and coasters: Serve your drinks on decorative trays to elevate the vibes. Rustic wooden trays or gold trays can give a festive presentation without making it too overwhelmingly holiday-y. If you’re hosting less guests at home, trays are perfect for a cozy night in, get some snack bowls, fancy wine glasses and have some fun.

Have fun, and get creative, you can create any vibe you want for your holiday mocktail bar. Guests can mix their own mocktails and experiment with different flavor combinations, making it a fun and interactive part of your holiday celebrations. Everything is listed in our holiday mocktail bar idea list for easy shopping for you.

Idc what anyone says… fu hang soy milk is one of t Idc what anyone says… fu hang soy milk is one of the best. They’ve been around since 1958! Yes there’s lots of tourists and the line wraps around the block sometimes. But the lines don’t usually last more than 45 minutes. I don’t like long lines or crowds so I just go earlier. (If you’re jet lagged, just come here and eat at 5:30am).

Everything is made fresh and in house. And you can watch them bake the shaobing in their clay ovens. Many breakfast spots these days buy frozen doughs instead of making it from scratch. It makes a huge difference, in flavor and quality.

I don’t eat this often at all so it’s such a treat. My must eats are the egg pancake (Dan bing); thin Shao bing (thin flatbread) with you tiao (fried dough stick) and ofc their hot sweet soy milk (dou jiang)! And yes I finish all of it myself haha. Their soy milk is so silky smooth. Everything is so good!

I’m loyal to y’all @united but @evaairways is starting a direct flight from TPE to IAD in June… 👀can we get a direct route too? And maybe bring back the mayo & mustard packets for the subs?
