When planning a trip to Taipei, the biggest decision is always location. For me, location is everything. After two separate stays at the Sheraton Grand Taipei Hotel which is situated in the central Zhongzheng district. I can confidently say it’s one of the best spots and hotels in the city. This 5-star hotel is a major travel hub, within walking distance of many of Taipei’s sights. It’s simply unbeatable. Here’s my break down of why I loved it, and highly recommend it!

Accessibility
The hotel is located directly above the Shandao Temple MRT Station (Blue Line) and it’s just a few steps away. The blue line is one of the most convenient MRT lines to go sightseeing in Taipei. It’s only one stop away from the Taipei Main Station and few stops away from most common attractions such as Ximen, Longshan Temple, and Taipei City Hall. The main station is a central station that connects you easily and quickly to all the lines, directly linking to the red line, which gives you access to Taipei 101, Tamsui, and Shilin night market to name a few. The MRT is the cleanest, fastest, and most convenient way to get around Taipei.
Travel Tip: I recommend getting the Taipei (MRT) Unlimited Travel Pass. You can book it in advanced for 1-day, 24, 48, or 72 hours. You can purchase online and pick up at the Taoyoan airport, or at any MRT station. Saves time so you don’t have to reload your card, or worry about running out of money.
Close to food and sights
Accessibility to the MRT, and public transportation is one of the most important parts for me when picking a place to stay in Taiwan. But second to that is the location to the foods and sights. The Sheraton is close by to some of my favorite places to eat and famous sights.
You’re in for a treat for breakfast with the world-famous Fu Hang Soy Milk (éęč±ę¼æ), known for its incredible traditional Taiwanese breakfast and massive lines. It is in the Huashan Market (čÆå±±åøå “) building right next door. It is one of my favorites! I highly recommend waking up a little early, or if you’re jet lagged to go early as possible to avoid the lines, they open at 5:30am! Anytime before 7am, the line moves pretty quick.
Another Michelin bib gourmand recommendation, is a place called Moon Moon Food, Qingdao éęé£åē¤¾ é島åŗ. We actually stumbled upon this place on our first stay at this hotel. It’s right behind the hotel. There was a line outside of it, and we went to go try it, and you will fall in love with their spicy sesame noodles, braised dishes and healthy soups. They actually have 2 locations a few streets apart near the hotel, and I prefer the larger store on Jinan branch ęæååŗ. The Qingdao store is the original store and a bit small.
After all that eating you’ll probably want to take a walk, and you can walk to so many sights from the Sheraton Hotel! If you’re okay with a longer stroll it takes about 18 minutes to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall! It’s one of the most beautiful places to visit in Taipei. Other sights nearby includes a 15 minute walk to the National Taiwan Museum, and the 228 Peace Memorial Park for the history lover, or if you would like to see some more greenery in the city. On the other side of the hotel is a 13 minute walk to the Huashan 1914 Creative Park, with lots of little stores to shop, art to explore and the occasional unique experiences and popups.
The room and service
Beyond the perfect location, the Sheraton Grand Taipei Hotel maintains its reputation for a 5-star luxury experience. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, comfortable, and a welcome retreat after a busy day exploring. Though the design and style of the bathroom and rooms are a bit more old school and traditional, its forgivable given the immense comfort and space. From the front desk to the housekeeping, the service is always impeccable and I’ve only ever had a positive experience with both. The housekeeping especially I have to say are the friendliest and go above and beyond. They also offer complimentary bottled water, which is customary in many hotels in Taiwan.
Choosing a hotel shouldn’t be stressful, and the Sheraton Grand Taipei Hotel makes the decision easy. From the impeccable 5-star service to the comfortable, spacious rooms, the quality is undeniable. But the real reason I recommend it is the locationābeing so close to the MRT and having popular Michelin bib gourmand dining steps away. It takes the hassle out of travel and leaves you more time to explore.
