Reflecting & Setting New Year Goals

Who’s excited for a new year? Okay so we all might not be on the enthusiastic new year vibes, but let’s try to keep an optimistic and hopeful tone to set goals. And start fresh for the new year.

Although the western world celebrates the New Year’s as January 1st, It doesn’t truly hit until lunar new year on February 1st (The exact day changes every year). But you never need a new year, new week, new month to make an excuse to make goals. We’re human, and it’s in our human nature to want to progress and improve.

Reflect on this past year!

It’s kind of difficult to know where you’re going without recognizing where you’ve been. So grab your journal and let’s reflect on the past 12 months. (I definitely recommend doing this every month, or every week.)

Journal prompts:

  • What went well? What are some of your favorite moments?
  • What are you proud of? What goals were accomplished?

Celebrate and relish in your wins whether big or small. When we celebrate and be grateful for what was, you can bring that energy into the present and future.

  • What didn’t work out or work well?
  • What struggles did you face? How did you overcome them?
  • What did I learn from that? What can I apply moving forward?

In combination with journaling, I also used my 2022 yearly goals and overview sheets, to help jot my memory of what happened, and what I would like to happen.

šŸ’”11 areas to reflect on and set goals for 2022 šŸ’”

In case you needed something to give you ideas on what to reflect on, and goals you’d like to set here is a list. And feel free to split categories, change or relabel them to make it more meaningful for you.

šŸ§˜šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Spiritual/ Religion
šŸƒ Health / Wellness/ Fitness
šŸ‘Øā€šŸ‘©ā€šŸ‘§ā€šŸ‘¦ Family

šŸ’µ Finances
ā¤ļøSignificant other/ Romance
🄳 Fun & Recreation
šŸ‘Æā€ā™€ļø Social / Friends
šŸ” Environmental
✨ Contribution/ Service

Use these areas to reflect on these areas of your life for the past year.

  • What made you feel satisfied or dissatisfied?
  • What worked well in each area?
  • What made you feel satisfied or dissatisfied?

Preparing for your goals, focus on not just what you want but how it will make you feel.

  • Now, Imagine if you have 100% satisfaction in each area, what would they feel like? What would you be doing? List them out.
  • Which of these categories do you want to improve the most?
  • Where and how can you make spaces for these change in your life?
  • What change would you want to make first?

Prioritize and make peace with what is important to your heart and soul. Even if they are small ways to bring them into your reality.

Tying it all together and taking action.

It might seem overwhelming, reflecting and reviewing. But it’s so worth it for your own personal happiness and growth. So often we think that “this is the way things are” and that is just not the truth. Every change is possible, it might feel difficult, but once you break through the beginning it gets easier. It’s all in what you believe is possible for yourself.

Instead of focusing on the outcome or results of the goals, we must also focus on taking action and making progress. Our desired results and dream outcomes come to reality based on our choices everyday.

Identify 1 action for one of the areas. And then pick 1-3 action steps to start with.

If it’s overwhelming ask yourself: what is the simplest small step I can take to get started?

Prioritize what works for you! Honor your commitments. Give yourself grace.

Track your progress every week, month or quarter.

Happy goal settings!! And wishing ya’ll an amazing new year!!

This was my first time visiting Keelung, Taiwan! I This was my first time visiting Keelung, Taiwan! It was a quick daytrip.

We took bus 1579, it was only 48 nt ($1.51 usd) round trip for (fare varies depending on where your leaving from).

I wanted to catch the last of Home, Eva ArmisĆ©n exhibit at the Keelung museum of art! She’s a whimsical and colorful, Spanish painter, and I adore how fun, yet meaningful her work is, emphasizing on the beauty in the mundane.

I enjoyed the exhibit so much. And I’m glad I was able to catch it on its last weekend. It’s pure joy.

We didn’t really plan much. Besides eating the famous scallion pancakes. Theyre so addictive and only 20ntd ($0.63 usd) each. I really want to go back soon haha.

I didn’t do much else in research for food, so some of the other places I tried were only average. As you can tell from my face. Had to keep it real bc thats the truth when traveling you wont like everything you try.

Though the exception was the douha/tofu pudding, I’m very picky about it. But I loved it, and so unique bc you can add lemon into it and it tastes so refreshing.

There’s def a few places I didn’t manage to go to. But I’ll save it for another trip.

I’ve been using these TTM black charcoal sheet mas I’ve been using these TTM black charcoal sheet masks for years!! It’s a thick high quality with loads of serum that delivers the results you want. It cleans your pores and removes excess sebum without irritating or drying your skin out.

When I had acne I religiously used them almost everyday, and it kept my skin hydrated while getting rid of acne. It’s the same packaging in green.

I got this box at Costco. But they also sell smaller boxes at Watsons and Poya. The full Costco skincare haul is on my YT. This is not a sponsored post I only share things I genuinely love and use!

I don’t see enough Taiwanese brands being hyped up. If you want to see more comment and make sure to follow me @iamkellytang !
