What are the 4 Gates Acupressure Points? And Benefits?

The 4 Gates acupressure points, also known as the Si Guan Yuan, are a powerful combination of four acupressure points that are located on the hands and feet. They are connected to the Liver and Large Intestine meridians in the body. These points are believed to regulate the flow of qi (vital energy) throughout the body, and they can be used to treat a wide range of conditions. What are the benefits of the 4 gates acupressure points? The 4 Gates acupressure points offer a wide range of health benefits, including:

  • Pain relief: It is predominantly known to relieve physical pain from a variety of conditions, including headaches, jaw pain, migraines, back pain, menstrual cramps, and arthritis.
  • Stress relief: It helps to reduce stress and anxiety. And it also helps to improve sleep quality as well as insomnia.
  • Weight loss: It is said it can boost metabolism and promote weight loss.
  • Improved digestion: It can help to improve digestion and relieve constipation.
  • Stronger immunity: It can help to strengthen the immune system and protect against illness. It can shorten colds, and flu’s and aid in seasonal allergies.
  • Releases repressed emotions of anger, resentment, an inability to let go, as well as irritability. It also helps to release the feelings of being trapped or stuck in a situation.

These points are classic acupressure points that are most commonly used for many different ailments.

Where are the 4 Gates Acupressure Points Located?

The He Gu (合谷) or Large Intestine 4 (LI4) is also known as joining valley. This point is located on the back of the hand, between the thumb and index finger. This point helps with digestion and assists in the functions of the large intestine. Since it is connected with the gut, it also helps us boost our immune system and can help with seasonal allergies, colds, and flu’s. It is known to help with overall pain relief including headaches, toothache, and jaw in the upper body. In terms of emotions, it can help you let go and be more calm.

The Tai Chong (太沖) or Liver 3 (LV3), also known as Great Rushing. This point is located on the top of the foot, between the big toe and the second toe, right above where the two bones meet and create a V-shape. Alone, this point can move your qi, and nourish your blood specifically aiding the liver. It especially helps with PMS, painful cramps, and regulating the menstrual cycle. It can help with pain regarding headaches, stomach, and even eye problems. It also helps insomnia, irritability, stress, and anxiety. With emotional help, it can help with anger, resentment, and frustration.

Together these points help the overall qi circulation and can help reduce pain everywhere in the body. Separately they have many benefits: the Large Intestine 4 helps the upper body, and the Liver 3 helps with the lower body. This in turn creates balance for the entire body, thus being called the 4 gates.

How to Use the 4 Gates Acupressure Points

To use the 4 Gates acupressure points simply apply pressure to each point for 30 seconds to 5 minutes. You can use your thumb, forefinger, or index finger to apply pressure. You can also use a massage tool, such as a guasha or acupressure pen. When applying pressure, be sure to use a firm but gentle touch. You can gently massage the area in small circles, or just apply the pressure in one spot. Take relaxing deep breaths, release the tension in your body, and focus on how your body is feeling. Or you can even do it while watching TV.  Always make sure to do both sides of the body, it is called the 4 gates because you have to press on all 4 spots.

You can use the 4 Gates acupressure points at any time of day, throughout the day, or on an as-needed basis to relieve specific symptoms. As with everything, acupressure is something you want to do regularly to see the best results. I suggest doing it every day or even every week. I try my best to do it every night, because it really makes a difference with my sleep, and when I have period cramps.

Please also note that those who are pregnant should avoid pressing on these points.

The 4 Gates acupressure points are a powerful and effective way to improve your overall health and well-being. They are easy to use and can be used to treat a wide range of conditions. If you are looking for a natural way to improve your health, I encourage you to use the 4 Gates acupressure points.

Idc what anyone says… fu hang soy milk is one of t Idc what anyone says… fu hang soy milk is one of the best. They’ve been around since 1958! Yes there’s lots of tourists and the line wraps around the block sometimes. But the lines don’t usually last more than 45 minutes. I don’t like long lines or crowds so I just go earlier. (If you’re jet lagged, just come here and eat at 5:30am).

Everything is made fresh and in house. And you can watch them bake the shaobing in their clay ovens. Many breakfast spots these days buy frozen doughs instead of making it from scratch. It makes a huge difference, in flavor and quality.

I don’t eat this often at all so it’s such a treat. My must eats are the egg pancake (Dan bing); thin Shao bing (thin flatbread) with you tiao (fried dough stick) and ofc their hot sweet soy milk (dou jiang)! And yes I finish all of it myself haha. Their soy milk is so silky smooth. Everything is so good!

They also had yoga, Dj’s, coffee workshops, crafts, and a gourmet market. (Some activities need to be reserved!) AND there was a pikachu and eevee meet and greet. So cute!

The last day is tomorrow 3/29. Be sure to check it out if you’re in the area! And it’s completely free!

The pokemon go events like catching special pikachu wearing a flower hat, and exclusive timed research is until 4/6.

This is a realistic and honest what I ate in a day This is a realistic and honest what I ate in a day. I love travelling but it’s not always glamorous and the foods not always great!

I did have a connecting flight from San Francisco to dc, but I had to run to my gate and had 0 time to record anything. But we made it!

I’m loyal to y’all @united but @evaairways is starting a direct flight from TPE to IAD in June… 👀can we get a direct route too? And maybe bring back the mayo & mustard packets for the subs?
